Why do I not need to remove items from the desk, before converting to a bed?
The StudyBed desk surface always remains level, so even drinks will not spill, and all equipment can remain plugged in. Neither is it necessary to remove the mattress or the bedding;
What can be placed on the desk ?
The recommended weight limit is around 20kg, and the more this is spread across the desk surface, the better the balance when converting. To remain in place whilst converting, items need to be less than the ‘under bed height’ shown in the dimensions drawings (approx 46 cm);
How easy are they to convert ?
The process only takes a few seconds in both directions, and can be safely done, even by a child. For added security there are 2 simply operated safety latches which will firmly hold the desk in place, and it is recommended these are used each time the unit is in desk mode.
How robust is the StudyBed ?
StudyBeds are an extremely solid, weighty item of furniture; finished in either a choice of sprayed colours, or a range of real wood veneers. They are a solid free-standing item of furniture which does not require fixing to a wall (except Majestic and Slim models)They are designed for everyday use.
What about mattresses ?
As there is currently so much choice of mattress type, plus the fact that many people wish to swap over an existing mattress, these are not included; but we can supply very good quality mattresses if required; (for prices, see under, Model Range - extras.) StudyBeds take conventional standard sized mattresses, please check dimension details for exact sizes for each model or email us if in doubt.
Delivery ?
Delivery charges
will vary depending on distance from South Bucks; we will always endeavour to keep these costs to a minimum
Will you remove our old unwanted items ?
Certainly, in most cases, but please let us know in advance
Assembly ?
As StudyBeds typically end up in one of the smallest rooms in the house; it is necessary for them to come 'flatpacked'
It is certainly possible for a competent DIYer to assemble the unit themselves (the job being made considerably easier with 2 people) but like any task being undertaken for the first time it can be quite time-consuming.
We have our own very experienced assembly team who will both deliver and assemble at moderate cost.
Once assembled, the unit can subsequently be moved quite easily to a different location by partial disassembling and reassembly
What are delivery times ?
We carry large stocks in the popular finishes and therefore can usually arrange delivery very quickly.
Where and when can I see a StudyBed ?
We have all the models on display at our showroom in Stoke Poges, in South Bucks; please phone 01494 671116 or email enquiries@studybed.co.uk to arrange a suitable time for a demonstration.
It may be possible to view a StudyBed nearer to you; please call us for an update on this ever-changing situation.
